SCOUTING REPORT

By Jeremy Orr, Head Scout

QUINCY MILLER

6’9 Senior Forward

Tremendous talent for a 6’9 player, extremely long with exceptional shooting ability. Can handle the ball well and has a very nice pull back dribble to get an open jumper, but at times can over dribble which can lead to a turnovers. Could add more of a mid-range pull-up game because sometimes he over penetrates and leads to a poor shoot or turnover. Very good on defense thanks to his length, gets a ton of blocks and rebounds and can lead the break after grabbing a rebound due to his high skill level. Plays with a chip on his shoulder which is good because he seems very motivated to be the best but on the other hand sometimes he worries more about him being the number one ranked player, rather then just playing ball and letting his game do the talking. I don’t like the Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder comparisons because Durant is such a special player due to his attitude and work ethic and Kevin already had a very advanced mid-range game at Oak Hill Academy as a junior. This comparison is unfair to Quincy and puts unfair pressure on him to live up to the expectations of being the next “Kevin Durant.”

MYCK KABONGO

6’1 Senior Point Guard (TEXAS)

A true point guard that always has his head up looking for teammates and directing traffic like a coach. Myck is a extremely good ball handler with good creativity, combine that with his amazing court vision you get the best true point guard in the Class of 2011. On the defensive side of the ball he is very good at pressuring the ball and his long arms leads to him disrupting offenses and getting a good amount of steals. He hit some 3’s at the camp but could use improvement in this area of his game and could develop a mid-range game with a floater to become more of an offensive scoring threat. Myck is an extremely talented point guard who gets “IT” as people would say, I expect great things from him in the future.

QUDDUS “DEUCE” BELLO

6’4 Senior Guard

Very long 6’4 guard who could have a wingspan up to 7’0 feet with tremendous ball skills and solid court vision. He has a crossover that is reminiscent of Jamal Crawford which is extremely effective due to his great length. On top of the fact of him being VERY long he is an exceptional athlete with great leaping ability and quickness. Duece can be a tremendous defender if he wants to apply himself, but its hard to evaluate defense in this camp setting. At this point he is not an effective shooter and very thin which can make it hard for him to finish in traffic, if he improves on both of these areas of his game the sky is the limit for Deuce.

DEANDRE DANIELS

6’8 Senior Forward (TEXAS)

Good size for a wing player, can handle and shoot the ball at 6’8. Athletic player with decent length which gives him the ability to finish above the rim and affect the game on defense with blocks and steals. Needs to tighten up his handle if he wants to continue to play the wing at the college level and improve the consistency of his jumper. If he could add some more strength he could exploit smaller players down in the post which he doesn’t currently do very often. DeAndre has very good tools to work with and has a lot of upside and should be a good player for Texas.

LEBRYAN NASH

6’7 Senior Forward

Good size for a wing player with good skills, can hit shots off the bounce and create his own shot. He is an athletic player and this benefits him on both sides of the ball, his jumper is hard to block due to his jumping ability and he is good at playing the passing lanes on defense. Didn’t get too many catch and shoot opportunities but this is an area where he can improve. Adding more advanced offensive moves such as a step back, a floater, crossovers and other dribbling moves could take his game to the next level.

ISAIAH AUSTIN

7’0 Junior Center

Seven foot junior with great length, is a tremendous shot blocker with very good timing. Isaiah also showed impressive perimeter skills for a 7 footer with good ball handling ability and ability to hit a jumper. Game is somewhat similar to Marcus Camby’s of the Portland Trail Blazers. Very frail at this point of his development needs to add weight and strength so that he can operate more in the paint.

NAADIR THARPE

5-11 Senior Point Guard

Great ball handler that uses his body well to shield off defenders once he gets past them, similar to Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets. Naadir is an extremely good finisher around the basket due to the way he uses his body and his ability to put the proper spin on the ball to make lay-ups from different angles. He also always seems to be in control when he has the ball in his hands even when Myck Kabongo was pressuring him. Tharpe is a very creative passer and can be a great floor general but at times in the camp he seemed more concerned with getting his own shot. Showed some three point shooting ability but seemed more streaky then a great overall shooter.

AMIR GARRETT

6’6 Senior Guard

Big lefty guard who had a great camp displaying great athleticism leading to many highlight dunks. To go along with his great athleticism Garrett showed solid ball handling skills with a good three point shot wheter it be off the dribble or off the catch . Didn’t show much of a mid-range game but that can come in time as he showed the potential to be a very good overall offensive player. Could be a great defener with his size and athletic ability, and can shut somebody down if he wants to.

NORMAN POWELL

6’2 Senior Guard

Long and athletic 6’2 guard that can finish above the rim in the paint, plays with great confidence and has an even tempered demeanor no matter what is happening on the court. Showed some shooting ability but may be more of a streaky shooter at this point then a pure shooter due to his very flat shot. His extremely long arms make him good on defense causing a lot of deflections and has ability to be a lock down defender. Didn’t show much play making skills for a 6’2 guard, improvement in this area would make him much more effective because he would have the ability to play some point on the next level.

ROSCO ALLEN

6’8 Junior Forward

Skilled 6’8 player with good basketball instincts, smart player uses fakes well around the basket in order to finish. Shows good agility and ball handling skills, can maybe be a point forward in the future. Good shooter especially off catch and shoot situations but can hit a pull-up jumper as well. Very tough player doesn’t back down from anyone and throws his body around with much bigger players. Needs to add more strength so that he can go in the post to take advantage of smaller players and be more of a factor on the defensive side of the ball. Could tighten his handle up and get a lower dribble so that he could develop into a point forward type of player.

QUINN COOK

6’1 Senior Point Guard

Solid point guard with good ball handling and passing abilites, that can also shoot the ball effectively. Has the ability to get to the basket and finish. Good basketball IQ can run a pick and roll effectively and make good decisions off of it.

THOMAS GIPSON

6’7 Senior Power Forward

Strong left handed post player that has enough ball handling skills to be a face up threat. Shows solid athletic ability and should be a good rebounder on the college level. Game reminds me of Michael Wright who player for the Univeristy of Arizona from 1998-2001. Could add a face up jumper to become more of an offensive threat.

JORDAN TEBBUTT

6’5 Junior Wing

Junior wing with the body of a college senior that can finish in the paint with ease, due to his strength and good athletic ability. Jordan showed very good shooting ability whether it be on the catch or off the dribble. He showed a great mid-range game by having advanced offensive moves such as a step back move that allowed him to get open for jumper’s, which he could knock down with ease. Still needs to work on his ball handling ability and quickness so that he can get the basket more and draw fouls.

LAQUINTON ROSS

6’8 Senior Forward

Long 6’8 athlete that likes to play on the perimeter and has good ball handling ability combined with the ability to shoot that ball. An injury limited him in the camp but showed toughness by still coming out and competing.

CHASSON RANDLE

6’2 Senior Guard

Quick and long athlete at the guard position seems like he can develop into a very good defender.

BRAD BEAL

6’4 Senior Guard (FLORIDA)

Smooth looking player that is very long and displays good athleticism. Didn’t shoot ball well at the camp but has a very good looking stroke that I’m betting will be very effective for him, also has some decent ball skills. Didn’t seem very comfortable in this camp setting.

ANDRE HOLLINS

6’2 Senior Guard

Good overall guard that can pass and shoot the ball effectively, also showed good anticipation on defense.

KEATON MILES

6’6 Senior Wing

Long athlete who can handle tha ball and get out on the break, Keaton is also disruptive on defense with his length.

RYAN ANDERSON

6’7 Senior Power Forward

Very skilled post player with great post moves, probably the best in the camp. Uses good fakes and has great touch around the basket but can’t finish above the rim which limits him, but is still very skilled.

AARON GORDON

6’7 Sophmore Power Forward

Very very strong player for a sophmore and has great size at 6’7. Athletic player who can finish strong around the basket, but didn’t show very good hands at the same time. Player with a huge upside due to how far along he already is physically as a sophmore.

GRANT JERRETT

6’8 Junior Power Forward

Long and thin post player with good hands and feet, seems to have a good amount of upside.

JALEN JONES

6’6 Senior Forward

Good athlete with a college ready body that is very good at playing the passing lanes.

SIDIKI JOHNSON

6’8 Senior Power Forward (ARIZONA)

Strong player with good ball handling skills for his size and moves well for his size as well, could add a jumper to be a face up threat at Arizona.

BYRON WESLEY

6’5 Senior Forward (USC)

Solid athlete with a college ready body that can play inside or outside.

JOSIAH TURNER

6’3 Senior Guard

Talented guard with a good pull-up game and ability to get to the basket but needs to improve on shot selection.

JORDAN GOODMAN

6’8 Senior Power Forward (RUTGERS)

Long 6’8 player with good inside skills and ability to block shots, could add weight for more impact in the paint.

SAVON GOODMAN

6’6 Junior Forward

Very athletic wing player that has good perimeter skills and a college ready body, has a lot of upside.

SIM BHULLAR

7’4 Junior Center

Extremely massive player at 7’4, with a good amount of bulk. Has solid hands and good awareness in the post, passing to the correct player’s out of double team’s. Needs to improve on athleticism in order to be able to play defense on the perimeter for pick and roll’s and to get rebounds out of his area.

IKE NWAMU

6’4 Senior Guard

Strong guard with good athleticism that has the ability to finish strong at the rim.

DEVONTA ABRON

6’7 Senior Forward

Plays with a lot of intensity and passion, very tough player. Shows some skills and ability to play on the perimeter. Over aggressiveness can lead to some silly fouls at times.

DELONTE BISHOP DANIELS

6’2 Senior Guard

Very athletic guard that showed good ball handling ability and mid-range game.

XAVIER JOHNSON

6’6 Junior Forward

Skilled junior forward who shows some good upside with having the ability to play inside or out.

JAVANTE THOMPSON

6’0 Senior Guard

Stong left handed scoring point guard, crafty ball handler that finishes well around the basket. Solid three point shooter that can score in bunches. Not much of a passing point guard didn’t really look for teammates and very left hand dominate.

ASKIA BOOKER

6’1 Senior Guard

Athletic guard that is learning the point guard position and showing some progress. Inconsistent shooter and gambler on defense, but shows good upside.

KYLE CAUDILL

6’11 Senior Center

Big man with a college ready body, can be a big factor in the paint with his size. Camps aren’t good places to evaluate post player.
